We've created something special at The Vine Goudhurst...
The Vine is more than a pub. Set in the heart of beautiful Goudhurst village, it offers a traditional family friendly Pub with a great selection of drinks and classic dishes, a Grill with a focus on steaks grilled over charcoal and the loungiest Lounge in which to enjoy coffee, cocktails, fizz and artisan gin. We also have two gardens; the Courtyard at the rear where you can enjoy a drink or al fresco dining and the Front Garden, perfect for watching the world go by..
The Vine strives to be the social centre of village life but is also a destination worthy of a car journey. A place to meet, chat, relax, eat and drink.
So what makes us different?...We are a family owned freehouse, passionate about the drink and food we serve, how we serve it and the environment in which it is served. The Vine is quintessentially English but with added flair and imagination.
Our ethos is – if we can source it locally we will. Kentish craft beers, wines, ciders and spirits are supplemented by the old favourites. Our food comes from local producers, farms and suppliers.
The Pub & Courtyard Garden
Downstairs at The Vine, the Pub has a cosy dog friendly bar serving real ale, craft beers, ciders, wines, spirits and some seriously morish nibbles. It is the perfect place to meet friends and make new ones.
Adjacent to the bar we have a relaxed and informal restaurant serving fresh, seasonal bistro food including the traditional pub grub favourites for the meat eater and vegetarian alike. Families are welcome and we provide smaller portions on most of the dishes for the children. Roast Sirloin of Beef with all the trimmings is available on a Sunday.. Inside Kent Magazine reckoned it was one of the best Roasts in Kent..
It is also a great place to stop by for elevenses (mid morning coffee & cake) or a pot of tea in the afternoon..oh and we mustn't forget the log fires for the chilly winter days and nights.
When the weather is fine, step through the french doors at the rear of the bar and you will be transported into the haven that is our courtyard garden where everything served in the Pub can be enjoyed al fresco.
The Vine is a bit of a Tardis - as well as a traditional Pub downstairs we have a stunning Victorian Dining Room upstairs which we call the Grill - the perfect place to enjoy one of our aged rare breed steaks in a stylish and contemporary setting.
However, it's not just steak that we offer..our new menu encompasses traditional dishes with a twist as well as some new ones that chef has developed.
Steak is our signature dish. We source the best cuts of meat, aged to perfection, season and grill on our Big Green Egg barbecues using local sustainably sourced charcoal. The choice of cut is extensive with both on the bone and off the bone options.
The fish is supplied locally having been caught in the waters off Rye. We aim to offer two daily specials - whatever is freshest and in season.
The puddings? They're pretty damned good too!
Probably not what you would expect to find in a 17th century coaching inn..a cosy, chic and sophisticated gin and cocktail lounge!
We've found some great mid 20th century furniture, added retro knick knacks and some great artwork to create an adult only space to relax whether that is over coffee or some cheeky cocktails.
On the subject of cocktails, we have developed a list, stolen with pride, from some of the top bars in London and around the world. Add ten artisan gins served in beautiful Spanish style goblets, wonderful local fizz and our extensive array of beers, ciders and wines..well you get the picture! You won't even have to move from one of the comfy sofas as one of our charming waiting staff will attend to your every need.
Music plays an important part of the ambience. Jazz, soul, funk, chillout, deep house to name a few of the genres we play. Not too loud - just right.
