The Vine Goudhurst

situated in the beautiful village of Goudhurst

The Vine is a 17th Century Coaching Inn which has been the social focal point of Goudhurst in Kent for centuries.

As the years have rolled past, The Vine has taken on many guises. It was originally a Coaching Inn where, in 1747, the Goudhurst Band of Militia met to plot the downfall of the infamous Hawkhurst Gang of smugglers. Today it continues to house discussion and debate, however, thankfully, the outcome is of a less violent nature.

The Vine is a traditional Kent peg tile fronted, timber framed building with Victorian additions. It has plenty of old world charm; beams, open fireplaces, oak floorboards, but is decorated and furnished with a modern twist. The result is a traditional pub with a warm welcome and just a touch of quirkiness..

Our aim is to provide you with the best experience possible, whether you have come for a quiet pint or an evening of cocktails and exquisite steak.

We hope you enjoy your visit to The Vine. Rest assured, we will do everything we can to ensure that is the case.

Justin lives in Biddenden with his wife Vanessa and 3 children. He was an accountant working for the big investment banks in the City. Thinking that there was more to life than spending 3 1/2 hours a day travelling to and from work he decided to buy The Vine.....

Goudhurst

The word Goudhurst is derived from Goud Hurst, the "good hill" due to the hill's strategic position within the local landscape.

Goudhurst is a thriving village with a beautiful and historic church and a whole host of stunning traditional houses.

There are some fantastic walks which can be started from The Vine..but be warned - it's hilly and you may need to quench your thirst on your return...

Take a look at the official Goudhurst website - far more information than we can hope to cover.
